Maher is a PhD candidate in molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in neuroimmune interactions and sensory biology. His research integrates molecular, cellular, and physiological approaches with AI-driven behavioral analysis to investigate the mechanisms underlying itch and pain. With extensive experience in neurogenetics and neurodegeneration research at leading academic and medical institutions, he brings a rigorous and interdisciplinary perspective to neuroscience. Alongside his research, he is deeply committed to inclusive, evidence-based mentorship, with sustained experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students and supporting STEM pathways for underrepresented and at-risk youth.
