A student's intellectual curiosity is demonstrated when they finish a challenging internship and exhibit strong math abilities. Additionally, admission to competitive programmes, especially in STEM fields, requires strong mathematical abilities. All things considered, finishing a maths internship strengthens a student's college application and improves their academic record.

In this blog, we have curated 10 math camps and internships for high school students.

  1. SUMaC (Stanford University Math Camp)

Location: Available both at Stanford University and Online
Program Dates:

  • Residential Session: June 22 – July 18, 2025

  • Online Session One: June 23 – July 11, 2025 

  • Online Session Two: July 7 – July 25, 2025 

Cost:

  • Residential program: $8,575 

  • Online program: $3,580

Eligibility: High school students currently in grades 10 or 11

SUMaC offers students an opportunity to study college-level math topics that are usually not taught in high school anywhere else. The programme encourages exposure to recent research, teamwork in solving problems, and deep mathematical thinking. Hence, rather than grades or credits, students should focus on the rigour and the sheer joy of mathematical discovery. 

2.Canada/USA Mathcamp

Location: Lewis and Clark College, Portland, Oregon
Dates: June 29, 2025, to August 3, 2025

Cost: $6,600 

Eligibility: Students aged 13-17 on the first day of the camp, or 18 if they have not completed one year of college.

Canada/USA Mathcamp is a 5-week summer programme for students from all over the world. Every summer Mathcamp brings together a diverse group of young math lovers to work on hard problems and explore advanced math. The curriculum is very flexible; students have freedom of choice and can choose from a variety of courses and activities based on their interests and levels. 

  1. AlphaStar In-Person Academy Summer Math Camp

Location: Mission College

Dates

  • Fundamental Courses Session 1: June 9 – 25

  • Fundamental Courses Session 2: July 14 – August 1

Cost: $1,000 - $3,250

Eligibility: Students entering grades 4-12

Deadline: Registration is open until sessions are full

The Summer Math Camp at AlphaStar Academy is a training facility for students who want to win MathCounts, the AMC 8/10/12, the AIME, or the USA(J)MO. Teachers are experts, many having represented or coached at national and international Olympiads, and the curriculum is designed and refined to match the top math competitions. 

  1. The Ross Mathematics Program

Location: Otterbein University, Columbus, Ohio and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Indiana

Dates: June 15 – July 25, 2025, in both locations

Cost: $7,000

Eligibility: High school students

Deadline: March 15, 2025

The Ross Mathematics Program encourages students to investigate mathematics well beyond the scope of the typical curriculum through immersive coursework and difficult problem sets. In order to prepare students for future leadership in mathematics and related fields, the programme cultivates a supportive community where deep mathematical discovery is of utmost importance. 

  1. California State Summer School for Mathematics & Science (COSMOS)

Location: University of California campuses: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Cruz

Dates: July 6 – August 1 or 2, 2025, depending on campus

Cost: $5,256

Eligibility: Open to California high school students only. 

Deadline: 2025 Applications are closed. 2026 applications are expected to open in January of 2026. 

The California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS) is a 4-week residential summer programme for high school students who love STEM. The programme offers classes and research projects that are way beyond the regular high school curriculum, so students can work closely with high-impact faculty and researchers. 

  1. √mathroots @ MIT

Location: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Dates: July 1 – July 15, 2025

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Open to high school students

Deadline: 2025 Applications have closed. 2026 applications are expected to open in January of 2026. 

The MIT PRIMES 14-day summer programme, √mathroots, aims to help high school students enhance their mathematical abilities. They especially welcome applicants who are self-motivated and resourceful and can tackle learning challenges. At one of the top universities in the world, √mathroots offers a chance to dive deep into math in a fun and supportive environment.

  1. Michigan Math & Science Scholars Summer Program (MMSS)

Location: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Dates:

  • Session 1: June 22 – July 4, 2025

  • Session 2: July 6 – 18, 2025

  • Session 3: July 20 – August 1, 2025

Cost:

  • Tuition: $1,300 per two-week session

  • Residential fee: $1,000 per session 

  • Application fee: $100 (only charged if admitted after March 27, 2025)

  • Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Eligibility: Open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. 

Deadline: Priority deadline is March 27, 2025 (applications after this date reviewed only if space becomes available)

High school students have an opportunity to get into advanced science and math through the University of Michigan’s Michigan Math and Science Scholars (MMSS) program. They’ll gain firsthand insights into the latest research and developments in small, interactive classes led by esteemed faculty. 

  1. UPenn Mathematics Academy

Location: University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Dates: July 5 – 26, 2025

Cost: $9,949

Eligibility: Current 9th-11th grade students

Deadline: 2025 Applications have closed. 

Penn Summer Mathematics Academy program allows students to work under the faculty of UPenn. Students get a taste of college-level mathematics by fusing complex theory with practical problem-solving. Students who have completed the programme receive a certificate of completion and gain access to UPenn’s resources. 

9. Illinois Tech Math in Action

Location: Online via Zoom

Dates: June 16 – 20, 2025

Cost: $300 

Eligibility: Ages 14-17

Deadline: May 1, 2025

Illinois Institute of Technology’s week-long virtual program dives into using mathematics to solve problems in our daily lives. Students will learn how mathematical ideas can be applied to solve practical issues through engaging sessions which will improve their subject understanding and problem-solving skills. Plus, since no prior knowledge is required, students from all backgrounds who are curious about practical math applications are welcome to join in!

10. Summer Math Program for Young Scholars

Location: New York University (NYU)

Dates: August 11 – 29, 2025

Cost: $2,400

Eligibility: Current high school students in grades 9, 10, and 11. 

Deadline: May 1, 2025

For high school students who love math, NYU’s Courant Centre for Mathematical Talent has an in-person 3-week programme called the Summer Math Programme for Young Scholars. Students will explore undergraduate-level topics like number theory, group theory, graph theory and more, surrounded by a math-loving community. Group discussions led by graduate teaching assistants and lectures from Courant faculty.
