About
Matt is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Chicago, working under Ian Foster and Kyle Chard. His research centers on automating cost-aware distributed systems to accelerate scientific discovery, with projects spanning F1 fluid dynamics, computational genomics, and materials science. He is currently part of the AuroraGPT initiative, developing trillion-parameter models for science. A graduate of Minerva University, Matt studied in eight cities across six countries, combining computing with philosophy and law. With five years of mentorship experience at UChicago’s Data Science Institute and teaching roles at both UChicago and Minerva, he brings deep technical insight and a global perspective to his mentorship.
