About
Lakshmi is an international PhD student in Neuroscience at Brown University, focusing on spinal cord development and the molecular mechanisms that guide neural circuit formation. Her research integrates molecular biology, advanced imaging, and single-cell genomics to uncover how transcriptional programs shape neuronal identity and axon guidance during embryonic development.

Academic Achievements
Achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Master’s degree in Biology with a minor in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata. Currently completing a PhD in Neuroscience at Brown University, USA, during which she has also earned a Master’s degree in Neuroscience en route to the doctorate.
Teaching & Mentoring Experience
Served as a Teaching Assistant during both undergraduate and doctoral training. At IISER Kolkata, tutored undergraduate students in Introduction to Biology, leading interactive sessions twice weekly focused on core principles of cell biology. At Brown University, served as a TA for Experimental Neuroscience, guiding students through fine dissections of neural circuits across multiple model organisms (including cricket and bullfrog) and supervising electrophysiological recordings to assess neural responses to environmental stimuli. Contributed approximately three hours per week to instruction, mentoring, and hands-on laboratory guidance, and delivered supplementary lectures on statistical analysis and data curation.
