About
Hafithe is a biomedical engineer and vision restoration researcher who earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University. He specializes in developing novel retinal prosthetics to restore vision in people affected by retinal degenerative diseases, with expertise in gold nanoparticle delivery mechanisms, toxicity studies, and intravitreal drug delivery. He has mentored junior researchers and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams, and has volunteered with Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment (BRYTE).

Academic Achievements
IB graduate focused in Biology and Chemistry (both HL). Cum Laude in B.S.E majoring in Biomedical Engineering. 2 Publications, one ACS nano and the other in Toxicological Research. Pioneered first ever systemic toxicity of intravitreally delivered gold nanorods to murine retinas. Developed multiple advanced imaging techniques and protocols for whole-rodent retina imaging, and rabbit retina imaging. Recipient of 3 full SACM scholarships, and a full graduate fellowship from Brown for my PhD.
Teaching & Mentoring Experience
Volunteered for 2 years with BRYTE (Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment) multiple hours per week depending on the HS student's need. Mentored 7 undergraduate and MSc researchers throughout my graduate degree through successful projects
